Omo Obanta Association rewards outstanding students in Ogun state

The Ogun State Omo Obanta Association of Ijebu-Ode has rewarded outstanding learners in the 6 Local Government Areas in Ijebu blocs with cash award while they also donates items to schools for children with special needs in the axis.

 

Speaking at the event, held at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School and School for Children with Special Needs, Ijebu-Ode respectively, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu said the awardees were selected through an essay competition that was put together by the association, which saw (three) 3 best students each from 10 schools across the 6 LGAs.

 

The Commissioner, according to his media aide, Mrs. Omoniyi Damilola, said the initiative was to encouraged the beneficiaries to continue to pursue excellence in their studies and also motivates others to emulate such outstanding performance.

 

“The scholarship award is for 30 students, 3 from each schools across the local government and the donation to our special needs schools in Ijebu bloc by Omo Obanta Association of Ijebu-Ode as part of their efforts to support government in improving education and to also give back to the society. I want to therefore advise you all to continue to strive for excellence in your studies and I can assure you, the sky will not be your limit”, he submitted.

 

Arigbabu therefore advised the learners to emulate such initiatives by using their given resources to improve lives of others while he admonished parents not to relent in supporting their children academically in order to attain excellence.

 

In his remarks, the President of the Association, Alhaji Akeem Kareem said the initiative was to give back to the society, by supporting learners in the axis with the needed support in their academics, with promises that such gesture would be continuous, he therefore encouraged the learners to continue to give their best towards achieving success in life.

 

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olaseni Ogunleye said 30 students would be given the cash prize while materials would be donated to schools with special needs children, this, she posited would serve as motivation for the students to continue to do better.

 

Appreciating the donor on behalf of others, Master Shoneye Clitton of Federal Government College, Odogbolu, Miss. Aribo Hannah of Ahmadiyah Comprehensive High School, Oni in Ogun Waterside and Master Moruf Sodiq from School for the Visually Impaired, Ijebu-Igbo said the gesture would spur them to continue to do better and impart positively wherever they find themselves.

 

Cash prizes were given to the outstanding students while items such as pumping machine, water reservoir, white boards, cooking pots were donated to schools with special needs children.
