Omololu Kola-Dare, a veteran journalist, who worked with Saturday Sun between 2005 and 2017, is dead.
Kola-Dare, described by colleagues as the ‘editor’s editor’ due to his knack for spotting errors, died on July 7 at the age of 69.
Brief History
Born on August 23, 1951 in Kabba, Kogi State, he started his journalism career over three decades ago in the defunct New Nigerian Newspaper as a Sub-Editor before moving on to National Concord in 1980.
The June 12,1993 presidential election saga led to his exit from Concord press where he was Production Editor (National Concord).
He joined the THISDAY Group in 1995 in a brief spell; he rejoined the company in 1999 as Chief Sub/Production Editor, a position he held for six years before leaving for The Sun Publishing Ltd.
He had a brief stint at the Champion Newspapers and the defunct National Post owned by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu.
He was a dedicated, forthright and caring husband and father.
His will be buried (tomorrow, Friday,) at his residence, 11, Ifelodun street, Kolab B/stop, Second street behind Halleluyah bus stop, Aiyetoro Road, Ogun State.
He is survived by a wife, children, grandchildren, a sister and a brother, Olatunji Dare, eminent scholar, popular columnist and satirist.
