The board of the Ondo State Football Association (Ondo FA) has joined other football stakeholders in mourning the late Chairman of Enugu State Football Association Hon. Chidi Ofor Okenwa, a Member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa, who died on Tuesday morning at the age of 50.

Hon. Chidi Ofor Okenwa who was also the Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association, had been diagnosed with leukemia, and was said to have been restless throughout the night. He slumped in the early hours before being rushed to a private hospital in Enugu, where he was confirmed dead.

According to the acting Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association (Ondo FA), Pastor Henry Akingboju, Honourable, Okenwa’s death is a huge loss to the football circle, adding that he would fondly be missed most especially with his resourceful personality.

“This is coming as a rude shock and a huge loss to the entire football circle in the country most especially if we consider his contributions to the round leather game which has seen him serving on various football platforms.”

The Ondo State FA board therefore commiserates with the Nigeria Football Federation and the Enugu State Football Association.

The remains of the late Chidi Ofo Okenwa had since been deposited in a mortuary in the city of Enugu after which his family will come up with plans regarding his the final burial rites
