Ondo Traditional Ruler, Olufon Of Ifon, Killed by Gunmen
Isreal Adeusi, the Olufon of Ifon in Ose local government area of Ondo state, has been shot dead.
The first class traditional ruler was returning to Ifon from Akure after a meeting, Thursday, Nov 26, when he ran into a barricade set up by the kidnappers along Elegbeka area.
It was gathered that his driver attempted to manoeuvre his way to avoid the kidnappers but they shot at his vehicle.
Oba Adewusi was said to have been hit by bullets and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where he was confirmed dead.
The state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, is said to have rushed to the hospital after he was informed of the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tee Leo-Ikoro, confirmed the incident.
He described the incident as sad and very unfortunate, saying the bandits also kidnapped two persons in the convoy after shooting the monarch.
Leo-Ikoro noted that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bolaji Salami, has directed all police divisions in the area to swing into action.
He stated that the police personnel would work with other security agencies to apprehend the bandits and secure the release of the victims.
