In an emergency meeting conveyed following the protest by Edo Women on Wednesday, the Orhionmwon Legislative Arm at Abudu, Headquarters, have resolved to check the menace Fulani herdsmen in their locality.
The meeting was strictly about the ongoing Herders/Farmers clash in the local government and other important matters.
Councilors were led by the speaker, representing Urhonigbe South, Hon. Hope Enogieru who appreciated the Chairman, Hon. Sylvester Okoro for a timely intervention and visit to the scene of the incidence.
He also encouraged him to put in more measures to bring the Farmers/Herders Crisis to an end.
The resolution by the councilors is as follows;
2. That the Chairman should read a riot act to the various community leaders that in their location, they should discourage open grazing and ensure that anyone coming to graze their cows should own a ranch. In the same vein the Chairman should call for a meeting with all the Enigies and the Odionwere so as to find a solution to the menace of the Fulani herdsmen in Orhionmwon Local government area and the people’s life and property secured.
3. That the chairman should as a matter of urgency make sure that the office of the National identification number (NIN) in the Local government Secretariat is functioning so as to enable the people easy access to carry out their registration.
The house also praise the chairman for his courageous act of mobilising security agent to the scene of crime and to go after the herdsmen into the forest so as to flush them out in the same vein the house indulge him to put more effort to curtail the menace of the Fulani herdsmen in the local government area.
