Wonder shall never end; the unfolding events in APC, the ruling party, are full of wonders!
The recent sack of Oshiomhole and Obaseki from helm of affairs of APC and APC gubernatorial race in Edo state are season films that will take decades to watch all the episodes.
Brief background:
The relationship of Oshiomhole and Obaseki dated back decades, he was the leader of Edo state economic team in 8yrs of Oshiomhole as governor of Edo state. When he was done with his two terms maximally allowed by the Constitution of Nigeria. Like other governors, the next was to look for right hand man either for soft land or to cover tracks, so as to avoid unnecessary harassment from EFCC.
Obaseki was Oshiomhole’s anointed candidate and he won with the supports of his predecessor. The rosy relationship between them later became sour and the duo ended up destroying themselves politically. Though, I’m seeing Oshiomhole bouncing back in Supreme Court and Obaseki going to political oblivion.
Ajumobi and Aketi are not friends:
Ordinary, Aketi is an Ibadan based legal luminary, and he is expected to have good relationship with Sen. Ajumobi who was the immediate past governor of Oyo state and contemporary of Aketi in governors’ forum but reverse is the case as result of what is best known to the duo.
Ajumobi is a loyalist of Tinubu and had demonstrated this twice.
Firstly, when he was done with 8yrs allowed by Nigeria constitution as the governor of Oyo state, he wanted Mr Tegbe to succeed him but Tinubu prevailed on him to use Mr Adelabu, the grand son of the popular Adelabu penkelemesi which he agreed. When Aketi won the primary of APC governorship in 2016 in controversial manner, Ajumobi never identified with him during the campaigns because Tinubu was not happy with Aketi.
Effects on Aketi second term bid:
To Aketi, this is another bad news, Ajumobi is more of Tinubu and he will do any bidding from burdillon. The Aketi’s fate will be fully determined by the Jagaban who has no love for Aketi without influence from more independent mind, Mr Oshiomhole who may be having soft spot for Aketi. The opportunity has presented himself for Tinubu again in better form than when Oshomhoile was in charge to have his way and to put Aketi to where he belongs.
It is from frying pan to fire for Arakunrin who has been afflicting APC members in the state since inception of his administration.
