Mrs Obiano made the observation Wednesday, 14th October, when she visited the two council areas which forms part of her tour of the 21 local government areas of the state.

The tour which took her to Achalla and Abagana headquarters of the two Local Governments provided opportunity for the distribution of palliative support to indigent widows, the less privileged, the physically challenged persons and children from various communities.

The LGA annual tour which has become the routine of the wife of the Governor in the past six years, is also a platform to meet and interact with the people, especially grassroots women, on different socio-economic issues, including health, career development, empowerment, agriculture, social and community development.

Speaking at each of the two local government areas, Mrs Obiano said that she decided not to cancel the annual tour despite the COVID-19 pandemic because of the attendant economic difficulties faced by the people, especially the poor.

“Sincerely I don’t feel comfortable in the face of the prevailing hardship some of our brothers and sisters pass through for survival. Failing to turn-up to lend a hand in assuaging their pains is not in my character and that is why I braved the odds to come, knowing that this time is when we need each other the most.” Osodieme explained.

The governor’s wife, however noted that despite the freefall in the price of crude oil globally which took a toll on the economy of Nigeria and by extension Anambra State, that Governor Obiano’s prudent management of the state’s economy has helped to lift some of the burden off the shoulders of Ndi Anambra through such policies like tax relief, exemptions and support to small businesses. She also called for collective responsibility at all levels and support for one another.
