Osun Footballer Kills Referee with Magic Ring

A Referee officiating a football match was killed by Magic Ring in Osun State after a fight broke out on the pitch on Sunday.

 

Shuaib Isola, 29, who was from the Araromi area of Iwo local government area, was rushed to hospital where he was later confirmed dead.



Police have arrested one Ahmed Lateef who was said to have fought Mr Isola on Sunday around 10 am on the football pitch of St. Mary’s Grammar School, Iwo.

 

It was not clear what led to the fight, but reports say the suspect hit Isola with some sort of magic ring, which made him slump. Efforts to revive him failed and he was taken to the General Hospital in the town, where doctors pronounced him dead.



Shuaib Isola died on Sunday.

Yemisi Opalola, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, while confirming the incident, said: “One Shuaib Isola of the Araromi area, Iwo, and others were playing football at the St. Mary’s Grammar School, Iwo, when one Ahmed Lateef engaged him in a fight.

 

“Lateef reportedly gave the deceased a punch and he collapsed. Isola was later rushed to the General Hospital, Iwo, where he was pronounced dead.”



“The family of the deceased evacuated his corpse and declined autopsy. But investigation will continue into the incident,” she added.
