The Police in Osun have arrested one Moshood Anifanikun, a resident of Gbongan Community, who was found in possession of a human head.

The suspect was arrested after men of the Security Joint Task Force raided his residence.

One of his neighbours said the odour from his house made residents to alert the police.

He said when the policemen searched his house, they discovered the decaying and rotten human head.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We don’t know where Moshood got the human head. We just perceived the odour and asked his wife that what was smelling in their house.”

“When Moshood realised that we were suspecting him, he took the bag out of the room and kept it at the backyard. That was where the policemen retrieved it,” he said.

The suspect said he extracted the human head from a grave.

Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying the matter would be investigated and that the suspect would be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Government has shut down a popular bar in the State capital, Osogbo for violating COVID-19 safety protocol.

It was made known that Osun State Joint Task Force on COVID-19 officers stormed the facility and sealed it for violation of the safety protocols.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mabel Aderonke, stated that “while monitoring compliance with the government’s guidelines on the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, it was discovered that the bar violated the guidelines.

She noted that Part of the guidelines is that eateries, restaurants, joints and bars should operate at 50 per cent capacity and ensure adequate physical distancing of customers. Also, the “No face mask, no entry” policy must be observed in every eatery, restaurant, joint and bar. Operators and attendants must also wear their face masks at all times.

“Recall that the government had released some non-pharmaceutical safety protocols some weeks ago, as part of measures to manage the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The government had warned through the guidelines that any hotel, event centre, mall, joint or business outlet found flouting the safety directives would be sealed and only reopened upon the payment of a fine of N250,000.”
