Owan West Council Chairman, Hon. Frank Ilaboya has charged the LGA’s Task Force on COVID-19 on effective distribution of hand sanitizers to the people of the local government as part of measures to control the spread of Corona Virus Disease.

The Chairman gave this charge during a strategic meeting with members of the task force, where he handed over Four Thousand One Hundred and Twenty (4,120) hand sanitizers to the COVID-19 response team for distribution.

The Council Boss commended the team for living up to expectation in the fight against the deadly Corona Virus.

He said, “I want to sincerely commend your efforts so far with the level of sensitization and awareness in the local government. You have done very well and I urge you not to relent.”

“Today’s meeting is called for us to evaluate what we have done so far as well as re-strategize on the way forward. We must not relent till the last trace of the virus is kicked out in the state.”

The Chairman also used the opportunity to once again thank the state government for the relief materials sent to the local government saying “it came at the right time when the people needed them the most.”

“Reports reaching me indicate that the relief items are being distributed to the most vulnerable among us as directed. This is quite commendable and I urge others to follow suit.”

While commending the Council’s efforts, “Sir Peperepe, from “Man Around Town”, an Independent Television & Radio audience participatory programme, who was in the meeting alongside Bishop Esau Festus (another social critic based in Sabongidda-Ora), lauded the efforts of the Council Boss in combatting COVID-19 pandemic. “I am impressed that things in Owan West are going on well. I have moved round the LGA and from what I have seen, the level of compliance is high and deeply commendable. I urge the Committe to continue in this direction.”

On his part, Bishop Esau also thanked the Committee for the dedication since the coronavirus started.
“I am impressed with the sensitization campaign in the local government. We all have a duty to ensure all government’s precautionary measures are observed.”

The distribution of sanitizers which began last week Friday, continues today with the following stakeholders benefitting: PHCs, thePhysically Challenged Persons, security agencies, market women, motor parks.

Others are tradionational institutions, pensioners, civil societies, revenue collectors, Christian and Muslim communities as well as school teachers among others.
