Here are photos from the fire incident that occurred at Ilepo Abule-Egba on Monday, 20th January, 2020 as shot by Photographer – Anthony Okeoghene Onogbo.
“I was at the sight of the abule-egba fire today. It was just heart breaking to watch. We need jobs for our youths, we need power, we need infrastructures. This is not the first time.”
“I heard from a source that the leaders and police are aware of vandalism of pipeline and choose to ignore it.”
Sometimes reports get to these police that a pipeline is being vandalized and they do nothing. The actions of some desperate individuals/group has cost others their lives and properties. We need solutions.”
The fire caused by pipe vandalism claimed properties worth millions, rendering many homeless.
According to Anthony Okeoghene Onogbo, “Info from a resident said while they were vandalising the pipeline, the pressure was too much that the hoodlums couldn’t contain it. Most of the pretrol went straight into the gutters and kept flowing to various houses were it was ignited by one of the resident house, which carried the fire back to the source of the vandalised pipe, along the line burning other properties and taking a lives.”
“I hope the government can put in measures to stop this in future. Our youths need jobs, opportunities, power, and leaders who care.”
Ilepo abule-egba community, Property owners will never forget these losses.
