Former Deputy Governor of Edo State and two time member House of Representatives Dr Pius Egberanmwen Odubu has urged religious leaders in the country to pray fervently for the survival of the country in the wake of this pandemic Covid-19.
Dr Pius Odubu made this call in response to the ravaging pandemic which has become a source of serious concern to the world, noting that the exponential rise in the number of infected persons across the globe calls for serious call for God’s Divine intervention.
According to him “The times we are in now are ominous and we must pray for the survival of our country first before we begin to talk of politics. Politics can only take place when there is a society. You cannot play politics in vacuum. Our people has to survive first and all hands must be on deck to support government in this fight against the deadly corona virus”
Dr Odubu appreciates the Federal and state government for the efforts so far made to contain the spread of the virus and noted that public spirited individuals must also support the citizens in every way to enable them go through this difficult times.
He assured Edo people that what the nation is passing through is a phase that will by the grace of God pass by.
Dr Pius Odubu was appointed Chairman Designate of the Niger Delta Development Commission in August 2019 and was screened by the Senate along with other members of the board. But, forces from Edo State government and other interests prevented the Swearing in of the new board under his chairmanship.
He is a frontline APC stalwart and gubernatorial aspirant in the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo State.
The experienced public officer, Lawyer and Lawmaker has maintained high degree of consistency and loyalty to the party since he lost the governorship ticket to the incumbent Governor.
He was a very supportive Deputy to Governor Adams Oshiomhole( as he then was between 2008 and 2016.
Dr Pius Odubu is a grassroot politician with an admirable support base across the one hundred and ninety wards in Edo State. His love for public service has led him to open his doors to all those in need of support at all time in and out of office. Since the outbreak of the deadly disease codenamed Covid-19 he has spared no efforts at supporting the needy with medical supplies in the form of hand sanitizers and disinfectants across the state. He is a firm believer in the Edo project.
