Police accused of shooting civilian due to OkadaBan

OkadaBan: Early reports show there was a clash  between civilians and police officers, due to the latest ban of commercial motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Maruwa) operators in Lagos state.

We hope and Pray the Lagos State government have a change of mind or provide a better solution.

The Okada riders had gone on a rampage and begun to smash vehicles and block roads, in reaction to the ban on their activities.

According to an eyewitness, motorcycle riders and the Police clashed at Apapa and Surulere areas of the state.

Tyres were burnt on the roads to stop vehicles from passing on some routes while other acts of violence happened.

It was also reported that there were shootings at Ijora olopa between the Police and commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists.

Recall that the Lagos State Government had banned Okada and Keke which took effect since February 1, 2020.

This ban also privatized motorcycle riders like Oride, Gokada and so on.

Areas like Ojota was under control but  Nigerians were noticed to be on a queue, at which numbers was given to everyone on that queue to ensure orderliness.  Some area withheld were found to have people who had no source of transportation treking to their various working place.

News also had it that some police men were caught shooting during the rage between them, Okada riders and the keke Napep.

#Okadaban has become something of great pain as Lagosians now trek to work and Monday 3rd of February 2020 will never be forgotten.

All hands on deck, we hope the government consider the masses and take control of the whole situation.

Nigeria are angry as the hashtag Okadaban has being trending on which lots of Nigerians are expressing their sadness towards to the action of the Lagos State government.

We understand there are meetings going on, we hope it yields ‘smart fruits’.
