Police and Protesters clash after a 14year-Old Boy was arrested

A protest took place outside a police station in north west London following the arrested of a 14-year-old boy.

 

The protest began after the boy was arrested on suspicion of a drug offence at a youth centre on the nearby Graeme Park Estate.

 

Video footage uploaded on social media shows a line of police officers standing guard outside Colindale Police Station as a group of protesters gather at the building.



Temi Mwale, who shot the footage, is the director of 4Front Project and said the boy was arrested on their premises.

 

She said in the clip : “We’ve been assaulted so many times here today. We have two members of my staff team that have been arrested.

 

“We have several young people who have also been arrested. This is what we’re dealing with and I’ve told them we want it to be deescalated and yet they’ve refused.



“This community is sick and tired of the way we’re being treated, sick and tired, and now we need your support.”

The footage also shows groups of protestors challenging the police about the arrests.



The station is next to the Graeme Park Estate and close to Peel Centre were recruits are trained to become officers for the Met Police.

The UK’s official Black Matter Live Twitter account tweeted an appeal urging supporters to go down to the station.

 

It posted: “A police unit have just raided the @4FrontProject office in North West London, and started making arrests. Team members and the Graeme Park Estate community are at Colindale Police Station demanding immediate release. Huge police line. If you can, head over there now.”



A spokesman for Met Police said the 14-year-old was A 14- year old was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis following a stop and search.

 

He added: “As officers carried out the arrest, a group began to gather around the officers and obstructed the police vehicle from leaving the scene.

 

“Further police units attended.

 

“A further two people, a 23- year-old man [B] and a 25- year-old man [C] were arrested on suspicion of obstruction of a constable.



“A cordon is in place around the police station and a Section 35 dispersal order has also been authorised. Further officers are supporting the dispersal of the group.”
