WOMEN’S ACTIVE PARTICIPATION VERY VITAL: DR GODWIN MADUKA CHARTS A PATH TOWARDS WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

One of Dr Godwin Maduka’s priority is for women to play important role in building a strong socioeconomic landscape for Anambra State through mechanized farming, agribusiness, trade, small scale manufacturing etc. Thus “when a woman is empowered, a community is empowered”.

He will introduce co-operative banking for the women to drive the socio economic impact of the agribusiness revolution.

Agriculture holds an important key because women will be deeply involved in agricultural revolution in Anambra, from planting to processing of cash crops like garri, rice, Cassava and cocoyam at reduced prices for internal consumption and special packages for export.

Women empowerment is intrinsically linked to sustainable development and is key to good governance. Dr Godwin Maduka has continuously showed empathy for women especially widows in Umuchukwu, Orumba South LGA. He built hundreds of free houses and shops for the widows at Afọr Market. He has consistently donated cash to widows in Anambra State through his foundation(Dr Godwin Maduka foundation).

He knows that empowering women will trigger their potential for maximum productivity. Thus his philanthropic gestures towards women . Women play a key role in his hospital in Las Vegas. These includes Directors, Heads of units,Doctors and Nurses. He will replicate these in the state.

Anambra State women have been so neglected, hence his ideological disposition to empower them by breaking social and cultural barriers that hinder them in participating in mainstream politics and assisting their husbands financially.

In area of policy, the office of Women and Children Affairs will be strengthened to handle a wide spectrum of challenges women encounter in the state. Dr Maduka says women will no longer be at the receiving end through low quality education, marginalisation in marriage, unemployment, poverty and psychological trauma in widowhood.

Okosisi Orumba will lead women advancement and liberalization in Anambra state by removing major structural, legal, economic and socio cultural barriers to women empowerment. He has been a pillar of support for women at local and community levels and continued to build their capacities.

There is therefore every reason for the women of Anambra State to support Dr Godwin Maduka.
