President Buhari congratulates Anthony Joshua over win.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Anthony Joshua over win.

President Buhari stated this via Twitter, saying, “The downfall of a man is truly not the end of his life”.

According to the President, Anthony Joshua has through his winning “brought joy and celebration to millions of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.”

I salute World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua, on his Saturday night comeback victory over Andy Ruiz Jnr. You have brought joy and celebration to millions of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora; we are and will continue to be immensely proud of you.

The downfall of a man is truly not the end of his life. There’s always another, and better day. This is a lesson we must all learn from Anthony Joshua, as a country.

Anthony Joshua, after suffering one of the biggest upsets in boxing history back in June at New York City, came back and regained his titles in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night by producing a boxing masterclass against Andy Ruiz in their rematch.

According to former world champion Carl Froch, who was ringside for the Saudi Arabia title fight, Joshua performed “brilliantly.”

“He performed brilliantly. He wasn’t tired, he was able to move light on his feet without getting exhausted and he picked his shots,” Froch said.

“It was a perfectly executed game plan and one of the best performances of Anthony Joshua’s career. It was still disappointing from Ruiz, but that was because Anthony Joshua did what he needed to do and totally shut him down.”

“We have to give a round of applause, I don’t think people understand,” he said.

“Remember everyone [saying], ‘Leave your trainer.’ Just f***ing clowns mate.

“Boxing ain’t just about learning how to throw a punch, it’s learning about life.

“What you learn in boxing you take into the real world.

“Rob’s backed me from day one, day one, told me about certain things.

“I might not have been in this position if it weren’t for Rob. I don’t care if Rob teaches me how to throw a punch, Rob needs to teach me how to be a man.

“That’s what you want for your son, right?”

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said his fighter deserved plenty of plaudits for not letting the first loss of his professional career affect him negatively.

“Anybody who knows him knows he’s the nicest bloke you could ever meet,” Hearn said.

“After Madison Square Garden it was a humiliation; it was his New York coming out party, he went down four times.

“People wrote him off, people said he was useless, said he should quit, people said he had no heart, people said he had no endurance.”

“He went back to work and brushed himself down and tonight he made history and became a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.”

“It was an absolute masterclass, it was a shutout, a way of boxing that people didn’t believe he could do. The level of discipline was incredible.”

Also, Tony Bellew has claimed that Anthony Joshua is once again the number one heavyweight in the world following his win over Andy Ruiz Jr on Saturday night.

“I’m so relieved and happy,” he said.

“Perfect, perfect. It wasn’t a boring fight.”

“Both guys coming to win, both guys got cut. I think there were times in there when he felt a few shots himself, Andy Ruiz was gone a few times in my opinion.”

“He had the discipline and the mentality, even when Andy Ruiz was gone, to step back.”

You know what, I’m gonna say it now, I’m gonna say it. He’s the best heavyweight in the world again.”

“I don’t care what anyone says, I don’t give a s***. He’s the best heavyweight in the world again.”

Anthony Joshua via Twitter today dedicated his winnings to all those struggling one way or the other, saying “Clean heart wins.”

My hope is that someone sees my page and decides not to give up. Clean hearts win
