President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on the 16th of December 2020 has ordered the opening of four land borders. This is according the Cable News
According to a tweet posted on the President’s official Twitter handles, the borders that are to be reopened include Seme, Illela, Maigatari and Mfun.

The borders have been closed since August 2019. According to the Federal government, the borders were closed so as to curtail illegal importation of drugs, small arms and agricultural products into country from neighbouring West African nations.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Minister, Zainab Ahmed disclosed that the other land borders will be reopened before Dec. 31st, 2020.
