The National Deputy Chairman (Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria) and Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local government, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba is one of the latest important personalities to react to the death of Miss Uwaila Omozuwa, simply known as Uwa, who was raped and later killed while reading in a RCCG Church at Edo state.

Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, while speaking with news men, described this act as barbaric, devilish, wicked and unpleasant to hearings.

She bitterly lamented the rate at which incident like this happen in the country, while also urging the security operatives to give in their best in rendering their services by ensuring the protection of lives and properties of Nigerians.

Princess Olabanji-Oba argued that the society has made the Girl Child to be a victim to so many crime due to the fact that they are weaker vessels, hence, taken advantage of.

She thanked everyone working on the case and reinstated her trust in the government to do the needful in ensuring the perpetrators are brought to book.

‘’It saddens my heart to hear of issues that has to do with rape at this time, knowing fully well that we have a global pandemic we are all dealing with in our various capacities, issues like this should have been long forgotten but some dare devils have decided to be perpetrators of such.”

“It’s not a sin to be a female, that gender is one of the greatest blessing of nature but it’s disheartening that some criminals decide to make it look like a curse.”

“The death of Miss Vera Uwaila has clearly shown that people no longer fear God, they don’t fear repercussions, they don’t care about their generation, they just want to do what they feel.”

“With this development, there is need for us to make policies that will give more protection to the female child and it needs to be treated as a matter of urgency.”

“I appreciate everyone working on this case. I trust in the government to do the needful and I know that the perpetrators will be brought to book.”

Furthermore, she pleaded with parents to train up their children in a right way, inculcate so much value into them so they won’t become perpetrators of acts like this in future.

She however enjoined ladies to be conscious of the environment, refuse to entertain any form of abuse, speak up whenever there is an issue and ensure they protect themselves at all cost.

“Parents still have a lot to do when it comes to raising a child, all parents should ensure they raise their children well so they won’t become menace in the society,” she said

Concluding, Hon. Princess Folashade-Oba sends her condolence to the Omozuwa Family, assuring that justice will prevail.

“Also, I want to console with the parents of the deceased, it’s really a hard time for them but I want to assure them that justice will prevail.”
