Professor Ibrahim Gambari appointed as New Chief-of-staff

Professor Ibrahim Gambari appointed as New Chief-of-staff – – Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Gambari , has been appointed the new Chief-of-Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. With his appointment, he replaces Mallam Abba Kyari, who died last month of COVID-19.

 

News  gathered that Gambari, who was Buhari’s  Foreign Minister and confidant as military Head of late in the 1980s met with the President at about 8am on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.


Professor Ibrahim Gambari, from Kwara State was the Minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985.

 

A professor of repute and a global citizen, who is 75year-old (born Nov. 24, 1944 in Ilorin Kwara State), replaces former Chief-of-Staff, late Abba Kyari.

 

Prof. Gambari served meritoriously in the United Nations as Under Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa between 1999 and 2005.

 

He is a global citizen whose scholarly works are also recognised both home and abroad.


He is also the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University.

 

He will resume work on Wednesday, the 12th of May 2020.
