PulseNigeria’s failed hatchet job on Cross River(Commentary

Watching a video made by PulseNigeria on the state of roads in Cross River and their claim that Calabar, Nigeria’s tourism haven has fallen was clear that it is a failed hatchet job.

If the intention was to portray the state governor in bad light, it only ended up exposing PulseNigeria as a gun for hire.

Otherwise how on earth will someone show a video of a federal road, that is the Tinapa-Odukpani highway, focusing only on some failed parts of that road, without showing the whole length of the road with all the heavy equipment working to fix it?

Although it is a federal road, the Cross River State Government under Governor Ayade is dualising the road to with over 90 per cent of the earth work completed.

It may also interests PulseNigeria to note that to ensure the road does not fail, thus saving commuters the perennial agony on that road every end of the year, over 10 major culverts have been constructed with the asphalting of the road set to be achieved before December.

On their parochial assertion that Calabar, Nigeria’s tourism haven has fallen shows PulseNigeria is a cheap platform for hire, since assumption of governor Ben Ayade to office, tourism in Cross River state, has recorded awesome success story.

Today, Calabar carnival which is the biggest street party in Africa has become bigger and better under Ayade with massive innovations like the biker carnival, miss Africa pageant, international carnival and several other new development that have added colours to the carnival.

In addition, under Ayade, the carnival has recorded the largest turnout since the inception which had led to huge revenue to the state and the business community in the state.

Finally, PulseNigeria should know that you cannot make an omelette without breaking egg. It is impossible to dualise such a major road without inconvenience to motorists, moreso given the amount of rainfall in the state.
