With respect to an online story making the rounds to the effect that residents of Gerewu Community, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State situated near the airport are accusing the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria of an attempt to displace them from their homes.

The Authority will like to set the records straight for the sake of fairness, justice, and posterity.

The land in question was procedurally acquired by the Federal Government through the Kwara State Government, and compensation was duly paid to the customary owners of the land.

The entire land was properly surveyed in favour of the Authority by the Kwara State Government through the office of the Surveyor General of the State.

The Authority will also like to state emphatically that several meetings had been called in the past at the instance of the Kwara State Government and the Emir of Ilorin to advise the mogajis as well as the trespassers to desist from encroaching on the airport land but to no avail.

The Authority will like to advise the trespassers once again to desist from obstructing the ongoing fencing project at the airport for the interest of nation building and be law abiding.
