Reflection as the world celebrates Internet Day #internautday

Fair reflection as the world celebrates Internet Day on Tuesday, 23rd of August.

Big thanks goes to Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Web Inventor and Founding Director of the World Wide Web Foundation.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee is a scientist and academic whose visionary and innovative work has transformed almost every aspect of our lives. One way or the other we make use of the internet.

The inventor of the World Wide Web has been recorded as Berners-Lee as Time Magazine’s ‘100 Most Important People of the 20th Century’.

He invented the Web in 1989  while working at CERN. He also made sure it was made freely available to all.

As a reward, Berners-Lee was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to the world, and he was also honored at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.

He appeared in person at the London Olympic Stadium, where he tweeted “This is for everyone.” The message was instantly spelled out in LED lights attached to the 80,000 chairs in the stadium. So the people sitting in the stadium got to see the message while actually sitting within the message.
