Risks And Consequences Of Abortion

Abortion is the removal or evacuation of an embryo or fetus from a pregnant woman. A miscarriage, also known as a “spontaneous abortion,” is a spontaneous abortion that happens in about 30 percent to 40 percent of pregnancies.

It’s critical to understand the potential consequences of any elective operation on your body and future health before proceeding. We’ve put the most recent studies on the effects of abortion here.

Side Effects Of Abortion That Are Common

Following an abortion, the majority of women suffer some of the following:

  • Bleeding – Bleeding usually lasts 14 days, although it can last up to 21 days.
  • Cramping

  • Dizziness

  • Drowsiness

  • Nausea/Vomiting

These symptoms usually go away after a week, but they can last longer.

Complications that could occur

  • Damage to the cervix or womb
  • A lot of bleeding

  • Incomplete abortion that necessitates a surgical abortion treatment.

  • The uterus or the fallopian tubes are infected.

  • Internal scarring of the uterus

  • Septic shock, often known as sepsis, is a condition in which the body becomes

  • Perforation of the uterus

  • Death

Health Threats in the Future

  • Infertility

– Pre-term Deliveries in the Future:

Abortion weakens the cervix, increasing a woman’s risk of future preterm births.

According to two recent studies, one induced-abortion raises the likelihood of a second preterm birth by 25 percent to 27 percent. A woman’s chance of preterm birth rises by 51 percent to 62 percent after two or more abortions.

Women who have had abortions are more than twice as likely to have a very early preterm kid, according to a 2013 Canadian study (26 weeks gestation). At 28 weeks of pregnancy, the risks were 71 percent higher, and at 32 weeks, they were 45 percent higher. (Premature births put the baby’s health in jeopardy.) Infants born before the 37th week of pregnancy have a substantially decreased probability of surviving to adulthood. Those who do make it have a higher risk of developing major problems such as cerebral palsy, intellectual impairment, psychosocial development issues, and autism.
