Rule Bending: PDP cautions INEC against APC

Following the conclusion of election of candidates for various offices, by law, on Sunday, 7th October, the People’s Democratic Party on Monday have cautioned the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on rule bending for APC.

The PDP did this as a game play on Monday, 8th October on fact that the All Progressive  Congress in Zamfara state did not conduct any congress, and by provision of the law, which is powered by INEC, they have no candidate for 2019 election.

“Whereas legally, all congresses and related processes for election of candidates for various offices for the 2019 general elections ended yesterday (Sunday), APC in Zamfara State has not conducted any congress, and by the provision of the law, it has no candidates in all the elections.

“PDP is aware of a clandestine meeting between topmost officials of INEC and Zamfara State government, where INEC was instructed to manipulate the system and bend the rules to accommodate APC,” PDP said in a statement.

The PDP warned INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, of constant watch and would not tolerate any unethical moves.

“We insist that the laws guiding our elections must be upheld as PDP will never accept anything short of that.

“Finally, PDP wants APC and INEC to know that our party is at alert regarding all electoral processes in line with our avowed determination to dismantle APC’s rigging machinery in the 2019 general elections.”
