Sanwo-Olu surprises Simi with sudden release of 1.2billion

Like the fallen former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu have been found wanting of owing salaries.

Music queen, Simi could not handle it anymore on Wednesday as she drags Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over a sudden payment of 1.2billion Pension Funds to Retirees few days to election.

Recall one of the downfalls of Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state was owing and sudden payment of pensions.

That year, interestingly, Oyetola also released N1.2bn for pension payment.

On September 30th September, 2022, the then Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, released a sum of N350,000,000 for the payment of retirement benefits of pensioners on Contributory Pensions Scheme in the state civil service.

The amount was said to be in addition to N752,000,000, monthly pension to be paid to retirees under the old Pensions Scheme for the month of September.

Oyetola has also released an additional sum of N100,000,000 to pay part of the gratuities of retirees on Old Pensions Scheme, totalling N1,202,000,000.

Disgusted by this move by Jide Sanwo-Olu, the singer, Simi expressed shock that the government had the money all the while but refused to pay it, only to come few days to election to clear the pension owed retirees.

Reacting to the tweet by @tvcnewsng that read, “Lagos State Pays 1.2billion Pension Funds To Retirees”, Simi wrote:

“I’m like…Soooo you always had this money? And these people had to beg for money they earned. You always had it?? Lawl”
