SCILLA ENERGY LTD: Meet man who defrauded Four Women of €50, 000

A man who goes by the name Ben Chiza Mkandawire have been accused of defrauding three women of €50, 000 under the guise of setting up an Oil and Gas business through the company Scilla Energy Ltd.

Ben Chiza Mkandawire, according to his public profile, is an Oil and Gas Consultant, based in Geneva, Switzerland, but originally from Malawi and according to source, seeking asylum.

On his LinkedIn profile, Ben Chiza describes himself as human rights advocate.

“I am a human rights advocate, that’s my passion and what motivates me. I stand for all people regardless of race color and creed. Am also a local government expert on decentralization/ federalism and strengthening governance institutions.”

However, on Friday, November 13, 2020, a petition was sent to President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi to help with Chiza’s deportation so he can face the law and possible “mental health examination.”

A fresh victim, Rachel Alaba, who has taken it upon herself, fearlessly demanding for justice, is among the four women that were recently defrauded by the said “con artist”.

Rachel Alaba is British Nigerian citizen who lives in London.

In her letter to the President, she recalls how the ‘gentle man’, Ben Chiza Mkandawire convinced she and three other women to invest in an Oil and Gas business through the company Scilla Energy Ltd.

With the women’s backing, Rachel Alaba has gone further to create a website https://benchizaontherun.wordpress.com and Instagram page @benchizaontherun_ to enlighten women to be wary of Ben Chiza Mkandawire and for the general public to help in getting justice.

On 20th October, 2016, Ben Chiza Mkandawire created what was tagged a financial scam called OneCoin a.ka One Life to Malawi.

According to an investigation by MALAWI BRIEF, “OneCoin is a scam which is not offering the next alternative to Bitcoin but actually offering people the opportunity to be scammed out of their money.

“OneCoin is a Ponzi scheme. Many of the people central to OneCoin have been involved in other such schemes that have collapsed with many people losing a lot of money. There is a constant need to get more people to invest to pay out previous investors. The people who are holding the meetings in Blantyre and Lilongwe will receive commission on anything they sell.

“They are not bothered at all if you end up losing money. All they are really interested in is the commission they will receive.”

“Meanwhile OneCoin is has been banned by the authorities in Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Poland, China and the UK.

To make things worst, the ‘Management’ of Scilla Energy Ltd decided to terminate Rachel’s appointment as one of its directors, leaving her with no leverage.

Ben last post on Facebook as a politician was on 6th September 2017.

Mr Ben Chiza Mkandawire was recently spotted with another woman in Malawi.
