Feelers have it that Governor Seyi Makinde was at the National Secretariat in Abuja yesterday to commence plans to hijack the delegates in some south west states, including Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti. He has again returned there to perfect his plan to cripple all the leaders that are not in his good books by denying them delegates with his undemocratic scheming. It has been revealed that he is also refining the plan to include all the Electoral officers the National body will assign to conduct the congress elections this weekend.

It is a shame that a Governor that is supposed to be a leader to all has still decided to remain a factional leader and is crippling these State chapters by working against the wishes of the masses in those States. We would recall that it was his overbearing influence that led Segun Oni to decamp from the PDP to SDP (Makinde’s former party) and the likely platform of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu once he fails to pick the APC presidential ticket. Is the Governor’s desperation for total control of the southwest linked to this plot? In Ondo, he worked against Eyitayo Jegede, In Osun State he is against Demola Adeleke, in Ogun State he is working against Ladi Adebutu.

We wonder why the Governor has not been able to put his own house in order and feels that he has the morale justification to wade into other States in the southwest. Shouldn’t charity begin at home? He preaches harmonization in other States but has totally hijacked the State structure has driven known party leaders out of Oyo PDP. Mr. Governor will better serve the party as a neutral umpire in the interest of all. This is the only way he will be seen on the good side of history. Rather he can redirect his aggression to assisting the party resolve the myriads court cases plaguing the party in the zone. The guidelines states that congresses are conducted in the wards and not on the table of the Director of Organization. Concluded elections reports should be delivered to the Oyo Governors lodge in Asokoro but be handed over to the ward chairmen for onward transmission to the party managers at all levels.

The advise to the National is to ensure that our biased leader and his chief planner in Wadata House, Adeyemi Moyegun are checked mated now before the zone is sold to his paymaster, Bola Tinubu. The entire compilation process of members to electoral committees should not have the input of the Director if fairness and justice must prevail. The Governor, the deputy National Chairman, the South west chairman, and any of their cohorts should not be allowed to manipulate or have any input into this process because he is obviously biased and trying to serve his personal interest not a collective interest. The Governor should be encouraged to pick up the constitution and elections guidelines on the conduct of the primaries to be abreast of what is expected.
