SHORT COMMENT ON MY SECOND ARREST! – Olawale Bakare

The moment I was arrested!

There is this fine young comrade who rush towards me and was dragging me with four muscular armed DSS personnel, screaming

“No! Mandate is not going anywhere, leave him alone!”.

Amazingly, this young man held me so tightly that the four officer couldn’t bully him to let go until I signaled to him to let go so as to avoid being arrested as well. Before this, I already sighted Sanusi moving towards us in obvious attempt to join hands with this young man to prevent the abduction. After the boy left, the officers have enough time and space to brutalise me, at this point Sanusi could not obviously entertain such sight anymore, I saw him running towards me to help me break free from this terrible agents, but just before he got to me, he was blocked by another set of officers, manhandled and thrown into the van. This show of solidarity is an encouragement and a quick reminder that the there is no weapon stronger than a united and indivisible people with conscience and determination.

Aside from the height of bravery displayed by our comrades as they refused to be intimidated by the careless display of ammunition and the over-militarisation against our convergence while we still await many of our comrades from Ikire, Ilesha, Ikirun et al; we realised that while large number on the barricade is quite important and will finally bring the oppressors to their knees, a few strong, brave and determined mind (who are regularly sending them signs of readiness and willingness to fight and resist oppression) is all it takes to disrupt their evil agenda and weaken their stronghold on the oppressed; as we will become a disturbing revolutionary mystery they will never be able to solve.

A sincere comradic salute to that young man, it is because of men like you that makes it impossible to quench flames of the looming revolution. Whoever and wherever you are, I am sending my greetings in orange letters. If you ever get to see this, please kindly reach out to me.
