In other for a decade of action to be achieved, the STARTNOWAFRICA in collaboration with the Office of the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), Ekiti State, on Thursday, 12th March, hosted the first ever SDG conference for Primary and Secondary Schools in Ekiti State.

Over 100 students from different schools and 40 Corp members were present at the conference with the theme “A DECADE OF ACTION IN EKITI STATE”.

The office of the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals led by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs, Mrs. Abimbola Solanke was present at the conference which took place at Are/Afao Comprehensive School, Are-Ekiti, Ekiti-State.

The guest speaker Mrs. Abimbola Solanke spoke on the 17 goals and how students can take charge of each of the goals.

After her lecture, a quiz competition was done to see if the students understand the 17 goals.

Other SDG advocate were present were, Micheal Peculiar, who spoke on Goal 11 and Miss Simi who spoke on Gender equality.

Ohore Emmanuel, Team lead for STARTNOWAFRICA said “For us to achieve this 17goals we must begin to raise young ones but for us to raise young ones, they must be aware about the goals i .e From awareness to action and result which was the reason why we organise this programme.”

“We have been going to schools to sentizise them prior to this day and this is like the first phrase. The next phrase is to raise SDG advocate from schools that will run with one of these goals which is kicking off by April.”

The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) to transform our world are:

GOAL 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
