Steer clear of Chieftaincy Tussles, Gov. Akeredolu tells Traditional Rulers

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN on Wednesday, implored Traditional Rulers in the State to steer clear of Chieftaincy tussles in the State.

 

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave this directive at the occasion of the presentation of Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Bayode Agboola as the new Onirun of Irun-Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government.

 

The historical event was held at Omolore High School sports field, Irun-Akoko.

In his speech, Arakunrin Akeredolu advised Traditional Rulers in the State to always be guided strictly by ensuring that their activities remain within the limits of their jurisdiction.

 

His words, “a situation where the peace of any given Community is allowed to be truncated by mere avoidable tension touched-off by Chieftaincy tussles remains a serious concern to our administration” .


“I therefore call for caution on the part of our Kabiyesis so that the government can consolidate on the prevailing peace and peaceful coexistence among the various communities in the State” .

The Governor further told the new Onirun of Irun-Akoko that he looked forward to a more robust relationship between the State and the community.

 

Governor Akeredolu equally declared that, his government would continue to make steady progress, despite daunting challenges notably in the areas of security and funds.

 

“Let me reiterates the commitment of this administration to the overall development of the various communities in terms of provision of Infrastructure and other amenities” .

 

“Despite the paucity of funds, our administration has been unrelenting in the areas of educational advancement and human capital development”, he said.

The Governor thereafter expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the new Onirun of Irun-Akoko, Oba Samuel Bayode Agboola and the good people of Irun-Akoko for the memorable event.


Some of the diginataries at the event are, Executive Chairman of Akoko Southwest Local Government who is also the State ALGON Chairman, Hon Augustine Oloruntogbe, Akoko Northwest Executive Chairman, Hon Ayodele Akande, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Segun Odunsanya, SSA to Governor on Youths and Students Affairs, Hon Olumuyiwa Ogunyemi, Hon Gani Daudu and others.

 

Traditional Rulers at the event are, Zaki of Arigidi-Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, Owa of Ogbagi-Akoko, Oba Victor Adetona, Kalasuwe of Apoi land, Oba ( Prof ) Adejimola Amuseghan, Oloyin of Oyin-Akoko, Oba L.O Bamisile and others.
