Suing BEDC over illegal disconnection and collecting millions as compensation

It has come to the notice of Edo Civil Society Organisations that some foreign nationals working for the Benin Electricity Distribution Company(BEDC) accompanied with military personnel go about disconnecting customers who have been served outrageous estimated bills.

More worrisome is the fact that, citizens are intimidated and harassed by the military personnel attached to these foreign nationals when they carryout these operations geared towards debt recovery occasioned by the deliberate non provision of meters by the BEDC.

To this end, we are calling on any customer that have experienced such an operation or have been disconnected by the BEDC even when you have contested the outrageous bill and have made part payment to contact us as soon as possible.

Postpaid or analogue meters are no longer read by officials of the BEDC, they are also served estimated bills just to exploit and extort the people and thereafter go about disconnecting such customers who are unable to pay the crazy bills. BEDC is a criminal entity that must be stopped.

You are requested to submit your complaints and a copy of your bill to our office given below or call us if you are in Edo Central or North to enable us direct you to our study centre closest to you.
