Tearing Exam Script is an Assault – Lawyer

A barrister and lecture, Dr. Dayo Sobowale of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, has said tearing of student script by lecturer in an examination is an assault.

He said, the fact that it is been done does not make it right, however, advised student with such case to report to their school authority for sanction.

Sobowale advised all students to know their fundamental rights and abide by them in an interview on Rave FM Osogbo on Monday.

Adebowale said, “Imagine a lecturer tearing the script of a student in the exam hall, is an assault.

“It is because the student don’t know
their rights, all you need to do is to report, it is wrong, no school will allow it to go.

“The fact that it is been done does not make it right, it is wrong, and once it is wrong it needs to be corrected and someone will start it.

“A lot of things we allow to just go for free in Nigeria because we don’t know our right, we don’t know our limit.

“Every pupils, every child should be taught what the constitution says, your right, your fundamental right you should know them and abide by them.”
