The Asset of This Age: Readers are leaders? I doubt! #PsychologistOfChange

Readers: Power is what everyone wants. We all crave for power but on various degrees. For some, the word power has a negative connotation; but how powerful you become depends on what you think power is.

In the Middle Ages, power meant having enough lands. During the Industrial Age, power meant having enough capital, and in the first century, power meant being skillful in martial arts.

Well, that kind of power seldom lasts. I don’t think of power that way, and I’m not advocating that you should, either. Although it’s better to have capital than not to, and it’s better to have lands that not to; but in the 21st century, power is another thing entirely. It is authority gotten from specialized knowledge.

But I wonder, if having access to information is enough, then everyone would be where they want to. Truth is, even in the 21st century, information is not enough. It’s only a potential power.

There are many NewYorkTimes Bestsellers. Some of them are: Unshakeable, FrogsIntoPrinces, EatThatFrog* etc, but I’m amazed that with so much information, we youths don’t value them. Our social and political unrest and moral bankruptcy has given us the momentum to flirt with fantasy in order to avoid reality.

When are we going to wake up? When are we going to read to effect a change? Readers are leaders but do you read? How many books have you read this year, and what has changed about you? I’ll leave you with what Charles “T” Jones said. He said, “You’ll be the same person in five years except for two things; the books you read and the people you meet.”

P. S. In this age, if you want to be at the top, read and read because information is the commodity of kings.
