THE CRASS PAROCHIALISM OF GOV. AKEREDOLU

Akeredolu, Ondo Workers And Their Wages

The nomination of Mr. Charles Ogunmola, an indigene of Owo, where Governor Rotimi Akeredolu hails from, as representative of Ondo State on the Board of NDDC in respect of the Executive Director of Projects is out of alignment with the provisions and the spirit of the NDDC Act (2000), which give preference to indigenes of the oil-producing communities for whom the Commission was set up to cater for. Are there no qualified persons from the oil-producing communities in Ondo State to fill the state’s quota for the Executive Director of Projects on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)?

It is so unfortunate that those who should be objective, fair and just because of their education, enlightenment and exposure are behaving like motor park touts in their crude subscription to ethnicity, tribalism and parochialism. Why should Governor Rotimi Akeredolu CON present an Owo indigene as the Ondo State’s nominee for the office of the Executive Director of Projects for NDDC in flagrant disregard for the provisions of the law setting up the Commission? A Senior Advocate of Nigeria for that matter! Shior!!! President Muhammadu Buhari couldn’t have made the nomination for Ondo State without the input of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, a sitting Governor, from the same ruling party, APC, as the President!

Nigeria is a wobbling giant today because those who were supposed to do the right things in the last 56 years (1966 till date) chose to do otherwise most of the time for irresponsible reasons. Today, we export crude oil, and import refined petroleum products, among myriads of oddities bedevilling us as a nation.
