THE G-5 GOVERNORS ARE HOLDING THE SHORT END OF THE STICK

The G-5 governors are a group of rebellious governors of the PDP led by the governor of Rivers state, Mr Nyesom Wike. The genesis of the grouse of this group is the failure of the Rivers state governor to secure the presidential ticket of the party and subsequently the vice presidential slot. What is not clear is the reason the other governors joined Mr Wike in the apparent grudge fight. Their excuse that they are fighting for equity does not hold waters because a closer look at how the governors have managed their respective states does not suggest people who are sticklers for equity and justice. It does appear that each governor has a different reason (unsaid) for joining Mr Wike in the rebellious fight against the national leadership of the party. The demand for the resignation of the party national chairman is a smokescreen masking the real intentions of these disgruntled governors. Ego and vindictiveness may account for Wike’s position but the other governors have self-preservation as the motivating element. Mr Wike’s desire is to ensure that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar loses the presidential election by creating instabilities in the party hoping that it would affect the party negatively. Atiku’s sin is daring to defeat him in the party’s presidential primaries and winning the party’s presidential ticket which he thought was his to pick. He has since been brooding over the loss . He believes that with the enormous wealth at his disposal, he possesses enough NUISANCE VALUE to inflict maximum damage to the political party. The party leadership decisions of not confronting the rebellion head-on was a master stroke in its preservation because the G-5 governors had wished for that course of action in the hope that their violent and sustained reaction would cause enough distractions to the party and make it weak to go into the presidential election successfully.

Apart from governors Wike and Makinde who support Bola Tinubu to win with Makinde hoping for a QUID PRO QUO deal from Tinubu to enable him retain his gubernatorial seat with a promise that he would jump ship in favor of Tinubu’s party, the other governors root for Peter Obi in the hope of benefiting from the sympathy votes of the formidable Peter Obi supporters in their respective states. The common denominator in their maneuver is that ATIKU ABUBAKAR OF THE PDP WILL LOSE WHILE BOLA TINUBU OF THE APC WILL WIN. None of the governors wants Peter Obi to win including Governor Otorm who lacked the WILL TO ZONE THE PRESIDENTIAL TICKET TO THE SOUTHEAST GEOPOLITICAL ZONE in the first place in connivance with governor Wike. The strategy is to use PETER OBI to UNDERCUT ATIKU’S SUPPORT BASE and get the backing of his supporters for their INDIVIDUAL elections. They had hoped that Tinubu would enjoy the power of incumbency being the candidate of the ruling party. They never reckoned with a level playing field in which the outgoing president would insist on a free and fair election. Like I said in a previous writeup, the powers of the national chairman of the political party in this dispensation and this election season are enormous, those who choose to challenge him including the party governors do so at their own risks. This is the unfortunate lot of these G-5 governors.

They had thought that they would not have need for the party national chairman again having submitted their names to INEC and the period of substitution of names elapsed. In their naivety and moronity they never reckoned that they would need the party national chairman to sign off for the party to own up to and defend whatever victory they may claim at the election in the tribunal. The extant constitution does not provide for an independent candidate so how do you expect the national chairman to stand with you when you are hostile to him and do not recognize him and his position? Those who believe that they can surmount this obstacle have better think twice because all victories will be challenged at the tribunals and courts. I advise all contestants on the wrong side of the national chairman of the party to eat the humble pie, apologize and make up now.

IT IS VERY URGENT!!!!!
