Edo 2020: You will emerge victorious, Olokpe tells Obaseki

The Untold 7 Billion Naira Story That Is Currently Tearing Godwin Obaseki And Philip Shaibu Apart

It is no longer a secret that Edo State Governor and his Deputy Philip Shaibu are at loggerheads.

The media was awash with news reports that the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu walked out on Godwin Obaseki during a caucus meeting held on Thursday.

The tensed meeting almost lead to fisticuffs between Philip Shaibu and some unnamed top Government officials.

According to the news making the rounds, Philip Shaibu was paranoid over the reluctance in Obaseki to release funds for campaigns to begin in earnest.

Well, we had exclusively reported some months back how Obaseki yelled at Philip Shaibu to stop telling him to spend his money, he allegedly told Philip Shaibu to spend his own if he so wishes, after all, it was a joint ticket.

As usual proponents of Obaseki 4+4 screamed fake news…now breeze don blow fowl yansh don open.

The whole town has heard about the infighting between Philip Shaibu and his oga, Godwin Obaseki.

Yes, there is 90% of facts in the news, but what the reporters failed to report was the UNTOLD 7 Billion Naira Philip Shaibu allegedly brought to the table.

Before I give details of the transactions it is worthy of note I take you back to the battle prior to the PDP’s ticket.

Philip Shaibu actually wanted Obaseki to dole out 2 billion to the APC to appease the party and its leaders, according to Shaibu staying in APC would be the best BET for him as he would definitely be an automatic candidate for a running mate to Obaseki, his fears then were that Obaseki would be told to dump him as deputy under the PDP.

But from reports gathered Obaseki said he was done with APC and would rather spend 10 times of that amount to secure the PDP’s ticket than spend it on APC.

Philip Shaibu, however, pleaded with Obaseki to reconsider his stance.

THE CRUX OF THE MATTER.

Now listen to the main subject matter, Obaseki then approached PDP and he was billed 6 Billion for the ticket if it was a sole ticket then PDP would nominate his deputy or 8 Billion for Philip to come in as his deputy.

This is the genesis of the fresh tussle of interest between the duo, Obaseki bluntly told Philip to provide the 2 Billion shortfalls if he was interested in the joint ticket.

Philip was mad, according to Philip if Obaseki had spent just 2 Billion he would have secured the APC ticket, so what is going on? -Philip lamented.

Now that was the first bill, Philip coughed out the first 2 Billion.

PDP gave them the ticket then the next bombshell …the 8 Billion was just the first payment PDP demanded another 20 Billion for campaign expenses, logistics etc.

Obaseki divided the percentage @ 75 to 25% in tandem with the earlier sharing formula for the 8 Billion.

Philip was to cough out a further 5 Billion.

The second payment is done, Philip now was real mad, according to our source where was Philip getting the Billions from? Philip was obviously using his personal resources.

So where is Obaseki getting his own Billions from? State resources right?

That is the major rift Philip Shaibu is having with the Executive Governor of Edo State…

“Yes oga (Philip Shaibu) has little issues with Obaseki and I understand it correlates to campaign funds and the counterpart funding from Philip Shaibu.

Where Oga has issues is that the over 7 Billion he has contributed is personal funds, can we say that of Obaseki’s own contribution is personal funds too?

Why is Obaseki foot-dragging in bringing out campaign funds? If so far Philip has contributed 7 Billion in just two months what do you still expect from him?

Is he the one contesting as the Executive Governor? let us be frank Oga has the right to have reacted the way he did last night it was provoking enough and if it was you I am very sure you would do same.

Haba, Obaseki said that campaign bills are now 75% – 25%, you check am now is that how Obaseki shares the security votes?

That was the exact words of our source.

Our subsequent bulletin would capture the role played by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Osarodion Ogie in the whole debacle.

All efforts to reach out to Obaseki’s personal aides to confirm or debunk the outburst from Shaibu’s camp proved abortive.

Stay tuned for further details as regards the nitty-gritty behind the scene.
