The World has responded with more Panic to COVID-19 – Opinion

I think, so far, the world has responded with more panic than courage to the threat posed by this Covid-19 and it is not helping us.

For how long shall we lock ourselves up in our rooms and depend on handouts from government, where it is possible? We have to come out of pur fears and confront this virus, headlong.

We have locked down everywhere for months, yet, the virus continues to spread and the scientists continue to give frightening prognoses. Are we going to remain in our cocoons forever?

We are handling this like it is something that will go away in weeks, but it is not looking so. What if we have to live with it forever? What if it becomes the next malaria? Are we going to be in our houses forever? Are we going to keep away from friends forever?

We have approached this like war all along, but with lots of fear and restraint. This is the time to approach it like a war with all the risks we can afford. We had better died standing up to this strange and invisible enemy than be on our knees and watch the world wiped off.

Let us pick up our face masks, our sanitizers and any other necessary protection we can afford and get back to work. Let us devise new ways to teach our children. We can’t bring them to the warfront. Let us go to the warfront and fight for their future.

We cannot continue dodging this fight forever and keep our children’s future in limbo. We have to tell ourselves the truth. The only stay at home order that works, is the one that affects our children.

Lets satay Calm. It will all come together.
