The Permanent Secretary, Cross River State Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mr. Thomas Ebong has tasked Management Staff of the Ministry to think outside the box in order to enhance efficient service delivery in the face of glaring challenges.

Mr. Thomas Ebong stated this while addressing an enlarged Management meeting of the Ministry today at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Calabar,adding that all hands must be on deck to salvage the civil service ethics that is gradually been eroded.

He urged Civil Servants to brace up to the current challenges of the Service, emphasizing that the present administration is already handling remedial renovation works on government buildings looted and destroyed by hijacked EndSARs protesters and the destruction of the recent windstorm of March 2021to make the work environment very conducive for working by Civil and Public Servants.

The Permanent Secretary said Information Officers have critical roles to play in publicizing government policies and programmes, pointing out that all efforts must be made to realize this mandate.

In separate reactions, Comrade John Ushie, Government Printer, said the hijacked EndSARS protest had since October last year rendered them without an office, emphasizing that the workforce need a conducive work environment to effectively deliver their mandate.

Mr. Mike Nyajor, Director of Public Relations said the meeting was timely and more of a wake up call to re-engineer their psyche while efforts will be made to resuscitate all the schedules of the Ministry.

The State Director of Information, Mrs Paulyn Eba called for more Information Officers to be engaged by Government, stressing that the existing number can not cover the current number of MDAs in the State.

The Director of Administration in the Ministry, Mr Thomas Atem lauded the management staff for holding forth in spite of daunting challenges and reiterated the desire of the current State Head of Service, Mrs Geraldine Akpet Ekanem to revamp the service, saying he has come with a new verve to add value to the system in the over all good of the Service.

The Meeting was well attended by all Heads of Departments in the Ministry, including General Manager of the Cross River State Newspaper Corporation, Mr. Ema Akpong, representatives of the General Managers of CRBC Calabar and Ikom, respectively as well as representatives of the Director-General of the Cross River State Signage and Advertising Agency (CRISSAA), Mr. Effiom Effiwatt.
