AWKA (SNN) —Foremost medical doctor, philanthropist, and politician, Doctor Godwin Maduka, has announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party (AP).
The strategic political move followed what he described as a coup against him and Ndi-Anambra by the PDP during its controversial primary in June and an appeal by thousands of Ndi-Anambra, who did not want to lose a credible leader of his pedigree to political shenanigans.
Maduka, the candidate for the Accord Party in the November 6 Anambra governorship election, while breaking the news to his teeming supporters, noted that his candidature has a “divine seal and approval,” and a means to end bad governance and impunity, which he said has arrested the development of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the triple professor also stated that as the next Governor of Anambra State, his administration will invest heavily on the poor, whom he said are “bearing the excruciating brunt of poverty and hardship”, brought about by bad governance.
A part of the statement reads: “The truth remains that, this is a task with divine seal and approval. And that was why I was born in abject penury and God lifted me up and as well equipped me for this sacred mission. I can not bear watching my people continue to suffer due to a lack of proper administration and bad governance. By God’s grace and intervention, I have been able to impact the world around me and I am not relenting. Politics or no politics, I will continue to do good to humanity.
“This time now, I have left the People’s Democratic Party and has joined Accord Party officially. I am the authentic gubernatorial candidate of Accord Party for the November 6, 2021, Anambra governorship election and with your unalloyed support, I will be your next Governor.
“Join me, let us transform Anambra State. Let us build a state of our dreams.
“I have come for the poor like me, those that are bearing the excruciating brunt of poverty and hardship as a result of mismanagement of our commonwealth. We are here to correct all those administrative errors this time!”
This declaration is a major shakeup, as thousands of Ndi Anambra, including top politicians and supporters from other parties such as APGA, APC, PDP are expected to join Dr. Godwin Maduka just for a better Anambra.
