Tinubu launches 4th Edition of Tinubu Youth Summit –

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.


This explains the essence of celebrating a sterling politician, a reputable financial icon, an hip State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Bola Tinubu Youth Summit Team.

 

With a strong Conviction in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s leadership sterling qualities, the Bola Tinubu Youth Summit, an offspring of the annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium couldn’t but set up a rare platform, where promising young Nigerians irrespective of status, class, colour, sex, religion or tribe connect annually, to celebrate and put the record straight on the intimidating pedigree of a man of honour, candour and integrity, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Adekunle Akanbi Tinubu.

 

Born on the 29th of March, 1952 into the famous Tinubu family in Lagos, Bola Tinubu just like any other promising child began his educational adventure at the St. John’s primary school, Aroloya, Lagos island and Children’s home school in Ibadan, before he travelled to the United States of America in 1975.



Passing through Richard Daley College, Chicago, Illinois was a significant turning point in his life, with his sparkling elements of brilliance lighting up every nooks and crannies of the College. The drive for excellence took the then Young Tinubu to Chicago State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1979.

 

Bola Tinubu later worked at Arthur Anderson, Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and GTE Services Corporation all in the Unites States of America.

 

With excitement, Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria in 1983 and worked with Mobil Production Company, Nigeria, where he rose to become its treasurer.



In the early 90’s Bola Tinubu ventured into politics, specifically, 1992 as a senator of the Lagos West Senatorial District, after which history smiled at him as he was elected the 3rd executive Governor of Lagos State, on the platform of AD between May 29, 1999 and May 29, 2007.



During this period, Lagos witnessed a radical developmental revolution in all sector of human endeavour, even when the Federal government stiffened the breathe valve of the state treasury, with the seizure of the local government funds over the legitimate creation of 37 local council development areas out of the existing 20 local government councils.

 

Lest we all forget, Asiwaju Tinubu’s performance was rewarded with both local and international awards such as: Best Governor In Nigeria (2000) by the Belgium chamber of commerce, 2002 best practice price in improving living environment, 2002 best computerized government in Nigeria by the Computer Association of Nigeria, and a host of others.



The Nigerian political colossus has bestrode its political space with his armoury of resilience, strategy, compassion, humility, integrity and intelligence. Today, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the political party that rescued Nigeria from total collapse in 2015, through the electoral processes that produced President Muhammad Buhari (GCFR).

As reflected in this publication of excellence with the theme: my hopes, my aspiration, our commitment, fulfillment and accomplishment.

 

From 2017, the Bola Tinubu Youth Summit has been an annual intellectual ritual, positioned to identifying, equipping and producing more of such potential resourceful and visionary leaders for a better Nigeria in future times.

 

In 2017, the maiden edition held in April at the Shell Hall, Muson centre was a success, with the theme; “`Leadership Service and Sacrifice; The Bola Tinubu Phenomenom“`, about 4,230 participants attended the summit. The keynote lectures were delivered by Senator Shehu Sani, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare. The 2018 edition was a wow factor. Riding on the theme-; “`Making Nigeria Work; synergy between leadership and the new generation“`, the key speaker led by the Lagos lawyer Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), Dr Mrs. Idiat oluranti Adebule, former Lagos deputy governor and Hon. Segun Olulade, former member of the Lagos state house of Assembly took the summit to an unimagined level of admiration. The participatory strength grew significantly to about 5700 across the 6 geo- political zones of the country, all in the name and conviction in the Nigeria’s political strategist.



In 2019, the third edition was held with the theme; “`NIGERIA RISING, (Youth As Catalyst For Sustainable Development)“`.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the likes of Mrs. Foluke Daramola Salako, Mr. Segun Dawodu (Lagos Commissioner For Youth and Social Development), Mr. Sulaiman Aladeh (Media Personality/Influencer), Hajia Zainab Galadima, an APC Stalwart, Hon. Segun Olulade of Lagos House of Assembly, Moremi Ojudu also graced the occasion as panelist.

It was no doubt a massive and successful outing with about 6,330 participants present.
