Gbetu TV (News They Are Not Talking About)
We are pleased to introduce you to Tiwan Tiwa, an annual 3-day Community Tourism Initiative whose primary intention is to work with the local community in Lagos Island to showcase their culture, heritage and assets through food, music, dance, film, theater, visual art, street art and street performances.
This year, themed Ours To Play, we will explore the Brazilian Quarters in Lagos Island, for 3 days, from the 16th – 18th November, 2018 with the Interactive Sessions, BLOCK PARTY LAGOS and the Brazilian Quarters Tour. The Brazilian Quarters is where the first Afro-Brazilian of Yoruba descendants settled, bringing with them a unique blend of Afro-Brazilian culture, religion and lifestyle practices that reflect their heritage from South America.
We hope to explore its assets, get to know settlement families, enjoy local food joints or visit historic monuments and churches. This is an attempt to create an opportunity for the communities to develop tourism facilities, they can take control and make their area more attractive to visitors in a way that supports the local economy.
