Ukai, others at Breast Cancer Campaign Volunteers Meeting in Akwa Ibom

As the campaign towards the fight against breast cancer in Akwa Ibom State is gathering more momentum from concern and patriotic citizens of the state; the immediate Past Acting Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Otuekong Hon. Ukai Udeme Emmanuel on Tuesday, 12th October, led a volunteered member to a preparatory interactive session.

 

The meeting was organized by Mrs. Imaobong Uwem Andrew-Essien, wife of the State Accountant General, as a preparatory mechanism ahead of the campaign in four Local Government Area’s of Akwa Ibom State.

The campaign trend for the awareness exercise will berth at Oron, Mbo, Udung Uko, Urue Offong Uruko, Okobo Local Government Area’s respectively on Wednesday tagged, ‘WALK THE WALK’ for the 2021 Breast Cancer Awareness Month.


The campaign is aim at sensitizing women within the state on the need to consciously take care of their breast to avoid breast cancer, is said to be the most common invasive cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer.

Sponsored by Mrs. Imaobong Uwem Andrew-Essien, wife of the State Accountant General through her pet project foundation Only Believe Care Foundation will reach out to 5 Persons for Life-changing Surgery, 20 persons for Chemotherapy, 20 Cancer Walk Packet Shirts, 100 Breast Prosthetics for Cancer Survivors, 50 Cancer Walk Packets Shirts, media, and awareness campaign materials for over 100 persons in rural and suburban community, 200 Cancer Walk Packet Shirts/T-shirts respectively.
