Tribalism, racism, religion, like corruption, has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian society.

Today, the trio has taken a step further; it has become an avenue, a springboard, for ethnic conflicts. Why is this so? The simple answer lies in the fact that it has been politicised in Nigeria.

Unedifying as it is, there is a historical narrative to this tribal shenanigan. Over the years, Yoruba have developed “knowing” character traits of the igbos. They have nurtured dangerous mythology of the Igbo character, and this has continued to hobble any chance of trust, solidarity, and unity between the two tribes.

First, the Yoruba believe that Igbo republicanism has given them a ruinous perception of themselves as superior to other tribes. This has continued to create a crisis of confidence and acceptance among the Yoruba. Yoruba believe that Igbo’s superior mentality and self-nobility have always made full assimilation with Yoruba an impossibility.

Second, the Yoruba have inbred animosity towards the Igbos because of the baton of the first among the best being held buy Ndigbo.

Yoruba believe that Ndigbo have a strange infallibility when it comes to intellectual, economic, social, cultural, and political comparison with the Yoruba. There is palpable anger against the Igbo’s supreme sense of self-assurance that speaks to being born to lead the Yoruba and not the other way round.

The Tinubu/Obi tribal tussle has opened a gaping absence of lateral thinking in both tribes.

Ethnic suspicion and hate will never end in Nigeria. The country can be broken down into autonomous nations and still benefit from one another as separate entities.

We will be better off apart than together. North, South, East, and West, we will all be alright independently.

Those who think one region will suffer in the aftermath of a break-up need to have a rethink.

We have too many precious stones and landmass for agriculture in the North. Too many precious stones under the ground and sufficient landmass too for agriculture in the South-West. The South-East and South-South have more than enough to remain buoyant. Everywhere in Nigeria is blessed.

Nigeria should divide into two ,or three separate countries to lessen ethnic tensions between the north and the south.

It would be best be divided between the Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and every other ethnic group could either pick aside or remain in Nigeria.
