Unrest as Yorubas clash with Yorubas in Lagos

There was unrest in Ojota area of Lagos on Monday, after Yorubas clashed with Yorubas.

 

Reports have it that some Yoruba Nation members clashed with Ooduwa Peoples Congress (OPC) members while holding a rally.

 

According to the reports, the Yoruba Nation group had planned to hold a mega rally at Ojota to press for self-determination.

Based on videos and photos shared on social media, Ojota was the scene of a clash between police and members of the group.

 

A source told Foundation for Investigative journalism that two groups, suspected to be Oduduwa Peoples Congress and Yoruba Nation agitators, clashed in the early hours of Monday, resulting in one casualty.

 

The source said police arrived the scene and shot teargas to disperse the crowd.

 

“Ojota is up in smoke, police are shooting teargas, and one person is dead. There was a clash between the OPC and Yoruba Nation.”

 

When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said normalcy had been restored.

 

He said he could not give details at the moment.

 

“I don’t have the details, once I have the details, I will let you know,” the PPRO said.

 

Moreso, complete details on what led to such ‘family clash’ cloud not be ascertained as at the time of this report.

    Those are Yoruba Nation armless agitator who demonstrate peaceful protest on today Monday 9th of January 2023 before Nigerian Police kill two of them.
    I believe that self-determination is a right of everyone, making propaganda is not the best for any journalist and that’s what makes Nigeria what it is today except if we want to deceive ourselves
