Virgin Atlantic delays restart of flights from London to Orlando

Virgin Atlantic delays restart of flights from London to Orlando

Virgin Atlantic has announced it’s restarting flights to 17 more destinations in August.

The airline has confirmed restart dates for routes from Heathrow to San Francisco (August 4), Tel Aviv (August 9), Miami (August 18), Lagos (August 23), and Atlanta (August 25).

In September it plans to fly to Washington, Seattle, Las Vegas, Mumbai, Delhi and Johannesburg.

In October it will fly to Boston, Montego Bay, Antigua, Grenada and Tobago (via Antigua) in and relaunch flights from Manchester to Barbados.

However, it has pushed back the restart of flights from London Heathrow to Orlando on July 20 until August 24 and cancelled all flights from Glasgow and Belfast to Orlando until summer 2021.

It’s a big blow for families looking forward to holidays booked to Disney World in Orlando.

Next month the airline will operate London Heathrow flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York and Los Angeles.

Staff will be wearing face masks and carrying out random temperature checks on travellers.

And passengers will receive a ‘health pack’ onboard the plane with medical grade masks, surface wipes and hand gel.

Founder Sir Richard Branson agreed last month to sell shares worth around 500 million US dollars (£405 million) in his Virgin Galactic space business to raise funds for his struggling airline and leisure businesses.

The businessman had warned the carrier would collapse unless it received Government support and indicated he would be willing to remortgage his private Caribbean island home on Necker Island to raise funds.
