VOICE OF THE SOUTHERN PEOPLE OF NIGERIA (VOTSPON) louds the formation of ESN by Nnamdi Kanu; Passes vote of no confidence on South Eastern Governors
– Commends the setting up of Eastern Security Network (ESN).
– Calls on Southwest Governors to show massive support for Amotekun.
– Demands for Protection of Northern and Southern People living in Northern Nigeria and immediate rescue of hundreds of Secondary school students kidnapped in Kastina State the home state of President Mohammad Buhari.
Voice of the Southern People of Nigeria (VOTSPON), has commended Mazi Nanamdi Kanu of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) for setting up a security outfit in the region called the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
According to the VOTSPON, the formation of Eastern Security Network (ESN) outfit appears to have been inspired by the alarming level and increasing insecurity situation in Nigeria,” this they believe is inspired by Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, former Defence Minister who urge Nigerian citizens to adopt the self-defence technique in protection of their right to life.
The statement signed by Comrade. Ikem Anthony Kalzeeni, Field Commander of VOTSPON and released to GBETU added that they are not amazed that indigenous Nigerians are forming all kinds of security groups and networks to check mate insecurity in their various communities and localities.
VOTSPON also passed a vote of no confidence on South Eastern Governors and Niger Delta leaders for their failure to emulate their South Western Governors in establishing a Security outfit like Amotekun.

“We the amiable members of the above body made up of Southern People of Nigeria wish to officially commend the setting up of a local vigilante group known as the “Eastern Security Network” citizenry security support in the fight against insecurity is a patriotic call and a legitimate business of everyone. After critical analysis, we have arrived at a conclusion that the formation of Eastern Security Network outfit appears to have been inspired by the alarming level and increasing insecurity situation in Nigeria. Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, former Defence Minister urge citizens to adopt the self-defence technique in protection of their right to life. You all will recall that the highly revered retired General openly accused the Nigerian Military of colluding with the armed bandits to kill innocent Nigerians. Nigerian society has been plagued recently with terrorism and insecurity including herdsmen and farmers’ clashes which often precipitate into ruthless maiming and killing of citizens. General T.Y. Danjuma, former Chief of Staff of Nigeria, while speaking at the maiden convocation and 10th anniversary celebration of Taraba State University on 24th March 2018, alleged that the Armed Forces were colluding with herdsmen to kill innocent Nigerians. He called on Nigerians to defend themselves, since the government and the military failed in their security obligation. Gen. T.Y. Danjuma (rtd) gave this warning at the maiden Convocation ceremony of Taraba state university in Jalingo Taraba State capital.
TY Danjuma speaking at arena of the convocation, said “he saw a diverse cultural display organized by Taraba state cultural groups which to him showed that state represents Nigeria in all aspect.
He said the unnecessary killings which is a target to ethnic cleansing on the people of Taraba and Nigeria at large must stop, just as he called on the people to ‘rise and defend themselves against the killers ”
“You must rise to protect yourselves from these people, if you depend on the Arm Forces to protect you, you will all die”
“This ethnic Cleasing must stop in Taraba, and it must stop in Nigeria. These killers have been protected by the military, they cover them and you must be watchful to guide and protect yourselves because you have no any other place to go.”
“The ethnic cleansing must stop now otherwise Somalia will be a child’s play.”
“I ask all of you to be on your alert and defend your country, defend your state” he said.
“Therefore, We the magnificent members of the Voice of Southern People of Nigeria are not amazed that indigenous Nigerians are forming all kinds of security groups and networks to check mate insecurity in their various communities and localities. Security is everybody’s business.
“We here by wish to officially pass a vote of no confidence on South Eastern Governors alongside their Niger Delta counterparts for their disgraceful failure and irritating inability to emulate their South Western Governor brothers in establishing a Security outfit like Amotekun to Protect the People of Eastern Nigeria and Niger Delta People from invading bandits.
“We call on the South Western Governors to escalate and massively expand their support for Amotekun. Security is everybody’s business. It’s indeed a matter of collective responsibility.
“We call on Federal Government, Political and traditional leaders of Northern origin to emancipate themselves from the pathogens of theory of silence and fight the insecurity monster that is ravaging Northern Nigeria. We demand the unconditional Protection of Northern and Southern People living and residing in Northern Nigeria. We majestically with deep sense of disappointment condem in total the embarrassing and humiliating news of kidnap of thousands of Secondary school students in Kastina State the home state of President Mohammed Buhari by the so called bandits. Why should any one question attempt to embark on self defense at this point?”
