An aide to Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the senator-elect of Kwara Central in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections has alleged that Hon. Wahab Issa’s defection to the ruling party is not far from the Governor’s inferiority complex.

The aide who pleaded anonymity revealed that the Governor is aware of the Mallam Saliu Mustapha’s growing popularity and fears his emergence as a strong man in Ilorin politics. It was further disclosed that the Governor has perfected plans to handover to the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly in 2027.

The aide expressed further that it was never the will of the Governor to give Mallam Saliu Mustapha ticket, nor Yinka Aluko and Lola Ashiru. Rather, he was compelled by the national leadership of the party.
