Why APGA should contain Labour Party in Anambra – Harris Chuma

Harris Chuma writes Gov Soludo

Dear Gov Chukwuma Soludo,

I will like to commend your tremendous efforts so far in office. I cannot but thank you. This open letter is craftily written to call your attention, and that of the APGA party leadership in Anambra state.

The political atmosphere in Anambra State, popularly called Light of the Nation, has continued to thicken every day ahead of the 2023 general election despite the fact that the election is still few weeks away. This is so in view of the current political calculations and maneuvering that continues to trail political events across the 21 local government councils of the state.

As the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, the major oppositions All Progressives Congress APC, and Peoples Democratic Party PDP – prepare ahead of the 2023 general election, it appears the ruling APGA have a lot in the works to contain the rampaging Obi’s led Labour Party. APGA may not loose sleep over other political parties, but you see Labour party, Mr Governor danger looms! Yes, quote me!

It is no longer news that the Presidential candidate of the Labour party His Excellency, Peter Obi is the major candidate in the forthcoming presidential election in Nigeria. Peter Obi’s candidacy is backed by mostly Nigerian youths, and the Movement cut across political parties, regions, religion and ethnic divides.

Today, in Anambra state the visible majority who are proponents and principal supporters of Peter Obi’s candidacy are to a large extent former APGA and PDP stakeholders. As at the moment, these former APGA stakeholders have ceded their political structures in favor of Peter Obi’s presidential bid. The most formidable APGA’s structure in the state appears threatened, and reportedly patronized by Obi’s apologists. Mr Governor, I see danger!

Mr Governor, without mincing words, there is palpable fear in the air, the political atmosphere in Anambra is tensed as we throttle down to National Assembly elections in February. It has become crystal clear that majority of ndi Anambra would like to vote for Peter Obi’s Labour party at the presidential polls, but APGA must find a way to cushion the bandwagon effects to avoid loosing National Assembly elections.

Advisedly, the APGA in Anambra should deploy everything in their arsenal to ensure massive support is given to her candidates in the forthcoming National Assembly elections. The truth is that most APGA candidates who are contesting in the National Assembly elections seemed abandoned to their fates. It has become unarguably visible that the candidates no longer trust members of their party. Mr Governor, I see danger!

The political market is saturated, so much horse trading, backstabbing and prevailing midnight negotiations. Just recently, a reliable source revealed that most APGA candidates in the National Assembly race are crying for help, as key stakeholders are busy dancing “odoyewu” about town, double dealing and romancing percieved political opponents. Again, I see danger. I see betrayal, I see sabotage!

Mr Governor, it’s pertinent to observe that APGA candidates will only make successful outing in the forthcoming National Assembly elections, if the party leadership, and critical stakeholders quickly run to their aid, galvanise support, and restore the dwindling fortunes of APGA before it’s too late.

Mr Governor, I’m afraid, if nothing is done speedily to change the ugly narrative, the ruling party in the state may not garner impressive results in the February scheduled National Assembly elections.
