Why do we still celebrate the Craziness called Democracy?

Why do we still celebrate the Craziness called Democracy?

Although I was no where to be found in early 80’s and 90’s but I remember the reasonable statement of Yoruba’s that say “bi omode Oba ba tan yo ba aroba” we heard a lot from our great teachers they told us what has leads to democracy in Nigeria, but what our teacher explained to us then about democracy was totally vice versa in Nigeria today.

Democracy simply means government of the people, by the people and for the people,by this definition we could easily understand that Democracy is the system of government whereby citizens of a country elect a government by themselves to protect and assist them in realizing their life dreams and expectations. But as a Nigerian today are we really enjoining this? How many of our dreams have comes to reality? Are we really moving towards achieving our expectations?

To be factual with ourselves democracy in Nigeria has totally changed to the government of the politicians, by the politicians and for the politicians only. Just look around you and see, because politicians are now the sailor controlling the chip of democracy in Nigeria despite the noises made by the youngs and the olds about democracy they are still wallowing in abject poverty, squalor, hunger, disease, underemployment, and other nefarious man-made problems, but with all this problems knocking down the masses day in day out lots of bloated salaries are allotted by those egocentric leaders, they keep promising a better future, but When will the future be better?

Majority of this leaders sweet talk during their campaigns to provides facilities such as portable drinking water, electricity, good health care system, free education, good roads etc to be enjoyed by the masses, but it is saddened after getting their way to the post they aspired for all their promises becomes a story of the past.

Even today most politicians have no positive idea what democracy is all about, talk less of having a good plan to move the nation forward.

Why do we still celebrate the Craziness called Democracy?

Presently democracy is a government of the people in which those who considered themselves born to rule and others born to serve benefits from it. The democracy we practice presently is the type that gives much regards to corruption which has been a deadly act killing the development of Nigeria.

Lastly, it has been clearly shown to us by those deceptive leaders that democracy is not for ordinary Nigerians but for the politicians and their cronies, because the masses are yet enjoyed the real face of democracy, enough of empty promises, rhetoric propaganda and useless long grammer, but rather improve masses standard of living.

We need to see action, real actions and not deception with our naked eyes, not on papers or on TV screen by then we say truely democracy exist.

My dear fellow Nigerians let’s stop being a silence criminal, it is high time we stop living in a world of illusion, deception, hypocrisy or hide and seek game. We should face reality and stop deceiving ourselves, we should never stop barking and biting for good governance,by then all our expectations will comes to reality.

God bless Nigerian
