Why PDP Wants Omisore, Oyetola, Others Arrested

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Osun State is constrained to alert the general public, the security agencies and the diplomatic community of a dastardly plot to create mayhem across Osun state by the duo of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Iyiola Omisore. The evil agenda was perfected at a secret meeting held at Tinubu campaign office at Osogbo between 6:30pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday evening.

We reliably gathered that the meeting drew up plans to attack PDP strongholds on Saturday using fake policemen already imported into Osun state and distributed across strongholds of the PDP in the state. The meeting penciled down 25 state constituencies known as PDP strongholds to bombard with sporadic gunshots, abduction of leaders and outright assassination where necessary.

The cold blooded meeting further agreed to lay siege on Ede Federal Constituency, the home of the State Governor and put Ife and Ijeshland on lockdown through violent attacks on PDP leaders and supporters. The ultimate goal of the duo of Omisore and Oyetola was to scare voters away and ensure maximum disruption of Saturday electoral process.

We condemn in no unequal terms this devilish desperation of supposed leaders of the society who have rejected the people and are seeking power through gunpowder. For a former Governor and a National Secretary of a political party to sit down to plot evil against the state is the height of irresponsibility. No true democrat will scheme against the right of people to vote and be voted for. No true democrat will prefer guns to ballot.

Those with narcissistic mindset and sadistic mentality cannot be allowed to plunge Osun state into needless conflict. We call on the security agencies to be alive to their responsibility. PDP will not resort to self-help but we urge security agencies to invite Senator Omisore and Mr Oyetola for questioning on the ongoing violence across the state.

Just yesterday, a member of the PDP was killed at Ife South shortly after a rally attended by Senator Omisore. From last night to this morning, Ifeland was under siege. No citizen is above the law. The police should summon Senator Omisre before the state is plunged into chaos.

In the same vein, we call for the immediate arrest of Mr Oyetola , Remi Omowaiye and Mr Banik for their roles in foisting political violence on the state. Osun is a peaceful state. No gang of defeated politicians should be allowed to destroy the peace of the state.

Signed
Dr Akindele Adekunle,
Acting State Chairman ,
Osun State PDP.
